In 2015, Simon Harcourt was approached by Garrett Leather Corp (US) with a brief to design a leather wall tile—something new, something different. At the time, Simon was inspired by nature, alpine landscapes, and the intricate geometry of pine cones. These influences led to the idea of adding a third dimension to what had traditionally been a flat tile format. The result was a bold, sculptural design that introduced depth and tactility to leather wall coverings, along with the development of a completely new, intuitive fitting system—one that could be installed by interior fitters rather than specialist leather craftsmen. Garrett Leather’s Alpine Tiles bring this vision to life. Each tile overlaps to create a dimensional surface that plays beautifully with light and shadow. Crafted by adhering premium Garrett Leather to a fire-rated PVC backer, the tiles combine elegance with safety and durability. The Alpine Tiles offer refined versatility—ideal for lobbies, boardrooms, and interior spaces where luxury and texture make a lasting impression.
